Every storage device has a finite lifespan – unfortunately – and the common hard drive and SSD are no exception to this rule. Fortunately for us both devices can be monitored for signs of failure using S.M.A.R.T. (Self Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) and everyone should have a tool to do so in their virtual tech toolbox. Hard Disk Sentinel is one of those tools.

HDSentinel’s software monitors the S.M.A.R.T. data, temperature, and performance of your drives and presents it in an easy to understand manor visually, or by email. Hard Disk Sentinel Professional also allows the user to run seek, surface, and extended tests on drives and, should conditions indicate a failing drive , perform an emergency backup of critical files! You can use Hard Drive Sentinel to find out the present condition of a drive in real time, or to monitor drive(s) over time which allows you to see drive conditions trends before a failure causes loss of data.

Hard Disk Sentinel (HDSentinel) is a multi-OS SSD and HDD monitoring and analysis software. Its goal is to find, test, diagnose and repair hard disk drive problems, report and display SSD and HDD health, performance degradations and failures. Hard Disk Sentinel gives complete textual description, tips and displays/reports the most comprehensive information about the hard disks and solid state disks inside the computer and in external enclosures.

This is just a small sample of Hard Disk Sentinel’s features. In addition to the above it can conduct thorough self testing of drives, surface tests, seek time tests, emergency backup of critical files, and much much more! Hard Disk Sentinel Professional is suitable for both the common home user and serious computer tech. Easy to use. Easy to understand. What more can you ask of a tool that everyone should have in the tech toolbox?

  1. I would like to make a chance too.
The software has possitively drawn my attention before. I use the standard version now and it has given me a better inside of my hdd’s than any other software I tried before this.

  2. Indeed, Hard Disk Sentinel is a must-have software for everyone with a computer.
Thanks a lot for the great review and giveaway. Please count me in.

Hard Disk Sentinel have a very good support! I wrote for support and it replied very fast and with a lot of good comments!

  4. I have tried other disk monitoring software on my WIN7 HP620 dual core laptop plus several USB HDDs, but was never totally happy with any of them. Since discovering HD Sentinel, I have stopped using all of the others. Currently using v4.00, which uses hardly any resources.
About a month ago one of my external USB HDDs was reported by HD Sentinel as being in serious trouble. (This particular make of USB HDD is known for sudden collapse when some sectors become corrupted.)
Thank goodness I had HS Sentinel running. I was able to save all my data before the USB HDD crashed completely.
After an attempt to re-format the disk to see if it could still be used, the HDD had to be scrapped – it was totally unusable.
If I had not been running HD Sentinel I would not even have known that my USB HDD was in trouble, and would have lost nearly 2GB of vital data.

  5. Only one word : ‘ PROFESSIONAL’ in the full meaning of the term.
This software runs REALLY PERFECTLY on every Windows operating system from Windows 9x to Windows 7 even including Windows NT4.
Being myself an ancient developer, I congratulate the author of this sofware.
And of course, If I can get a professional version for free, I will not say No.
Now I am hoping for a little luck …

  6. I have used/tried several hard drive monitoring software, and this is by far the best! It identified a failing hard drive on one of my computers and saved me from losing my data.

  7. I’m using the program and it’s letting me know drive F: is slowly dying. (I wish it could help bring down the price of the inevitable replacement :). Good program and I’d love to win a copy for my wife’s flaky computer.

Thanks for giving me a chance to win. It will a nice addition to my utilities.

  9. IN my experience, hard drives last 3 to5 years before they crash. A tool like this is indispensable.

  10. Great review! I’ve been using the free version I downloaded from Bits Du Jour. It’s the best hard drive monitoring software I’ve used so far!

  11. Oh, now I feel like a real dolt.
The first thing that came to my mind, when I read up on this progie… was my last (pc) love. My XP. Still sitting like an expensive doorstop in my basement.
Like I am ever going to revive that old thang. (yes, thang) No matter how many times I tried. Sigh.
In reading about this progie, I realize, had I had this…then, I’d have seen it (HD death) coming and could have done something. (like….save all that data, for one).
Now (for a long while now), I have a new love…my Win7….and I think that we’ll be buddies for a long time…cos’ I m not too wound up about Win8.
Perhaps I better think in terms of preserving our union by getting this progie. huh?

    Count me in, as well.

  12. It’s a powerful software.. now i am using its standard version but still not satisfied.. I want to upgrade it to its pro version for better performance.

  13. Most interesting. I intend to buy whether I win or not. Could have used several times over the last 25+years. Had to put out $700.00 to a disk recovery outfit sometime back because of a failed disk.

  14. I use the trial version of this software. Since I installed it I feel quite sure on the health of my hard disk. The interface is very accurate and user friendly.
    I recommend it to everyone.

  15. i have 3 HDDs, i lost the one that holds my personal data a month ago, it was fine the day before and i lost everything…
i wish i had a progam watching my HDDs back then. (still angry.lol)

  16. Have been using Hard Disk Sentinel 4.0 and find it to be a very intuitive and easy to use program. Recently saved me a lot of time while troubleshooting a faulty drive. Would recommend to novice and advanced users. Thanks!
