Every storage device has a finite lifespan – unfortunately – and the common hard drive and SSD are no exception to this rule. Fortunately for us both devices can be monitored for signs of failure using S.M.A.R.T. (Self Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) and everyone should have a tool to do so in their virtual tech toolbox. Hard Disk Sentinel is one of those tools.
HDSentinel’s software monitors the S.M.A.R.T. data, temperature, and performance of your drives and presents it in an easy to understand manor visually, or by email. Hard Disk Sentinel Professional
When you open Hard Disk Sentinel Professional you will see the main window, which will present an overview of all the drives installed on your computer along with temperature and health ratings from drives which provide that information. .
Clicking the Temperature tab will show temperature details for whichever drive you select in the left column. You can also set thresholds from here that will trigger notifications or perform other actions chosen by you.
The following tab shows the raw S.M.A.R.T. data from the drive selected in the left column and allows you to ignore or adjust how the program uses the data.
The information tab shows detailed information about the selected drive including controller, model, size, and much more!
The Logs tab shows any problems logged since the program was installed. Luckily everything looks good on my computer!
The Disk Performance tab allows you to see Read and Write performance of the selected drive.
Finally the Alerts tab shows any alerts for the selected drive the program has read that could be cause for alarm.
This is just a small sample of Hard Disk Sentinel’s features. In addition to the above it can conduct thorough self testing of drives, surface tests, seek time tests, emergency backup of critical files, and much much more! Hi, I would love this software as I previously loss a huge amount of data such as photos as a result of hard disk going corrupt. I have Ashampoo HDD Control 2…It works OK. I’d love to try Hard Disk Sentinel Pro. It looks like it is more complete than HDD Control. I’m an intermediate computer user…I do artwork with Painter & Cintiq. Thankx, Daimon~

It seems that the use of this program, a lot of functions for checking and testing our drive.
Everyone should be prepared for a hard drive failure. It is not a matter of “if” it will happen, but rather, when it will happen. Diagnostic tools are the best way to see potential problems and possibly prevent failure of the device. This application looks like a great addition, especially to the more technical computer users.

Thanks for bringing us this giveaway.
I have experienced a sudden death of my IDE HDD earlier. It was really shocking as it was working fine (according to me) a night before.
Unfortunately I was never able to recover data from it.
As I read HD Sentinel looks very promising in reporting and accessing drives health. Interesting thing is that it also helps recovering.

I have been using the free version for a while and the extras would be very useful.
Good day. I must say that this software looks great. It provides in depth detail of the hard drive, and is very user friendly – indicating which parameters are checked and are OK or need attention. Furthermore, the temperature indicator is very handy and I like the rich history and information that is available for most of the tabs. This is indeed a very handy tool! Thanks for this article 🙂
I think Hard Disk Sentinel Professional will be a nice addition to my HD applications
For me I have an old PC Compaq Presario with an AMD 3400+ processor and I use my HD alot. I would like a program that can help me see and maintain my aging HD and this seems better than alot I have seen and used. Presently I have O&O LED on my PC but it seems too…little in info for me and this program your offering as a prize sems to get more in depth and I like that. I would love and use this if I got it and hopefully it will extend my HD life a bit more so to speak.
The feature set looks good enough that I might actually keep it running.

This is an excellent program, tells you what you need to know about your disks health and performance, needs to be on every computer.
This is a good program to monitor your hard disk before failure. Backup is a must before it occur.

I have lots of power outages and usually get my OS files scrabled or develope hard drive errors. It would be a great use to me to help monitor the health of my hard drive. Nothing else outthere does all that HD Sentinel does in one package. It would be a welcomed addition.
As my computer(s) run 24/7, it would be great to have a monitoring software installed, Mindblower!
