I wrote before about how I prefer to download PDF files rather than have Opera open them. A previous Opera update didn’t respect my choice because it change the setting back to open in Opera.

So again I had to go and change the setting. The procedure is the same but the interface has changed.
In the address or URL bar type the following:
opera://settings/content/pdfDocuments
… and press enter. On the page that opens, there used to be a switch but now you have two more obvious choices. Click on the button before your choice. In my case, Download PDFs.
So, I hope Opera respects my choice the next time around.

Same story with Edge in Win 11, if not worse since every PDF is open in Edge wherever it is!
All changes are cancelled on reboot.
Opera is my backup browser. I find some options change so therefore I prefer using Firefox. It is set to download any pdf I click onto, so no problems arise, Mindblower!
