Follow the steps below to learn how:
- Be certain the field codes are visible in your document. If they are not, simply click Alt + F9 and they will be displayed.
- Click CTRL + F to display the Find and Replace dialog box.
- Be certain that the Find tab is displayed.
- In the Find What box, key in either ^d or ^19, which is the code to find the opening field brace.
- Key in a space followed by the field name.
- Click the More button if it is available to you.
- Be certain no formatting is being searched for and that no other check boxes are selected.
- Click on Find Next.
( i.e., ^d DATE ) will find the date field for you.
Searching in version 2010 of MS rod is a bit different but, just as easy, if not easier:
Follow these steps:
- Be certain field codes are visible in your document. If they are not, simply click Alt + F9 and they will be displayed.
- Click Ctrl + F9 to display the Navigation pane on the left-hand side of your document.
- Int he box at the top of the pane, key in either ^d or ^19, which is the code to find the opening field brace.
- Key in a space followed by the field name, as above.
- Your Navigation pane should show all the matches for the field of your choice.
- Click the one you want and Word will move directly to that location in your document.
