I was sifting through my usual early morning online news sources today when I came across a couple of reports which really tickled the ole humerus. The fact that the two stories were published on the same day and involve a somewhat similar topic is purely co-incidental, I wasn’t specifically chasing down any such reports.
Playboy Launches Nudity-free iPhone App
Playboy CEO Scott Flanders had this to say:
“As the on-the-go extension of the Playboy brand, our new app brings the best of Playboy with original, thought-provoking and enticing bite-sized content that captures our design-driven and discernible style,” We’ve rebuilt Playboy for iPhone from the ground up to attract the new generation of Gen Y fans who enjoy the indulgences of the artisanal good life and modern culture.“
“artisanal”?? Is that a rude word?
Really!! Can one include ‘nudity-free’ and ‘Playboy’ together in the same sentence? Isn’t the term “nudity-free Playboy” some kind of oxymoron? The lack of nudity doesn’t really bother me too much, I only ever buy Playboy for the articles anyway. 🙂
Seriously, I don’t know who Playboy expect this type of digital magazine is going to appeal to… the female of the species perhaps? Or am I just being a typical male chauvinist pig? What are your thoughts?
Here is a short video from Playboy about the new app – NOTE: this video does not contain any nudity!
BlackBerry 10 tells your friends when you’re watching porn
A number of user comments submitted in response to the report insist that the setting in BBM is disabled by default. Others point out that the report was published on 1st April (April Fools Day). Still, if I were a Blackberry user, I would be checking for the setting in question and making sure it is definitely disabled.
As a footnote to this particular story I have to share one of the more humorous user responses with you:
I’d be much more concerned with my friends ridiculing me for using a blackberry than knowing I watch porn…
And that my friends is one big LOL.
LOL at the Blackberry comment ;- ()
