Netflix’s Secret Categories

Netflix has a secret

In our home we have two streaming video options, Netflix as well as Amazon Prime. When it comes to Netflix, you can either break choices down by category or use the search option to look for something that might suit your fancy. My husband and I waste so much time looking for something we want to watch. We’ve discovered that using the remote is not the way to go, it is much easier to go onto a computer, log into your account and save items to your watchlist.

I do not watch a lot of TV but when it is winter time and I cannot be out enjoying my kayak or being outside working in the garden… I do enjoy watching movies with the hubby. We have watched some real duds that were so bad, we both agreed to bail on them rather than suffer through them any longer.

Netflix has a list of categories that many people do not even know are available. My oldest geek son told me about these and when it comes to hacks or finding cheats for games, he is the master.

Simply go to your web browser of choice and type the following URL into the title bar: http://www.netflix.com/browse/genre/### (swap out the ### with the code of your choice from the list below).

Hidden Netflix Categories

Some of the categories I have found are: Zombie Horror Movies: 75405, Quirky Romance: 36103, Dark Comedies: 869, Disney: 67673, Political Thrillers: 10504, and TV Comedies: 10375.

They even have categories broken down for children based upon age:

Movies for ages 0 to 2: 6796
Movies for ages 2 to 4: 6218
Movies for ages 5 to 7: 5455
Movies for ages 8 to 10: 561
Movies for ages 11 to 12: 6962

Here is a link to all the different codes:  http://netflixcodes.me/

Let’s face it, it can be pretty overwhelming to sort through the vast amount of movies and TV shows available on Netflix. While there is a lot of great content, there are also a lot of movies and TV shows that a person should never waste their time watching.

Years ago you used to be able to view a master list of titles in your online user account. I wish they would bring that feature back.
