Need Multiple Windows In OneNote?

Wherever you may happen to be in your slew of pages, you have the ability to create another OneNote for Windows ten.

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. On your Ribbon, go to your View menu
  2. Click New Window

That’s it, folks. It does not get any easier than this. As a matter of fact, you can just keep clicking to create more and more windows!

Each window will navigate to its own page, ignoring the others.

As you all know, I love anything that saves time and keystrokes and this is one really good one! You can run two OneNote windows right next to each other and I call that saving time and keystrokes!

  1. Yes, you can open multiple windows in OneNote. But I would recommend not to create too many windows. The reason is more about usability than efficiency. Each window you create should be functioning as a separate note, and it should only have the information that’s necessary for this particular window. If you try to put too much information in a single window, then each subsequent window that opens will probably need to duplicate all of the content of the previous one.

  2. Actually there is an easier way, at least for Windows. Hold down the Shift key while you click the icon on your QuickStart bar. This works for most apps.

      Hi Ritergeek,
I’ve never heard of a QuickStart bar.
The Quick Launch toolbar was introduced in Windows XP and there are ways to get it back in Windows 10 and 11.
Then, of course, there is the Taskbar which works the way you describe.

So, where is this QuickStart bar?
      Thanks,
      Richard

The author states “click New Menu”. Apparently, she meant to say “click New Window”, not “click New Menu”.
