Petrol heads and post apocalyptic fans rejoice, Mad Mad IV is almost here!
The Mad Max trilogy, kicking off in 1979, was the vehicle (pun intended) which helped turn Mel Gibson into a major movie star. Now, a fourth movie in the series, dubbed ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, is due for cinematic release in May 2015.
The movie will be sans Mel Gibson of course, who is just getting too old for this sh*t, and stars Tom Hardy of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ as “Mad” Max Rockatansky, the ex-cop turned nomadic wanderer and all-round leather-clad badass. Tom Hardy is joined by Charlize Theron, Zoe Kravitz and Nicholas Hoult in a post apocalyptic world of blood, fire, and vehicular mayhem.
A bit of trivia: Mad Max: Fury Road was originally being filmed on location near Broken Hill Australia but, after a sudden downpour of heavy rain transformed the desert area into a lush landscape of greenery and wildflowers, filming was subsequently moved to Namibia.
Originally scheduled to start filming in 2003. The 12 year wait is over in (less than) 2 weeks!
From what I’ve heard: minimal dialog, tons of (amazing) action!
