Mac Flashback Update

I posted an item earlier this week about the Flashback malware that has been causing problems in the Mac world.

Since then, Apple has issued a Java update for this issue.

The Java security update removes the most common variants of the Flashback malware.

It also configures the Java web plug-in to disable the automatic execution of Java applets. Users can re-enable automatic execution of Java applets by using the Java Preferences application. Note that the Java applets will be disabled again If the Java web plug-in detects that no applets have been run for an extended period of time.

The update is for Macs running Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and 10.7 (Lion).

You can install the update using your Mac’s Software Update option in the Apple menu.
