How To Restore Outlook Items From Junk Mail

In my last post, I told you how to recover deleted items and said I would include more where that information came from in my next post. Well, this is that post!

There may be times when you need to restore items from your Junk Mail. And sometimes messages appear in your junk mail folder that are not really junk. I know; I hate when that happens! So I am here to tell you that it is always a good practice to check your junk mail regularly because junk mail will be permanently deleted. (i.e.,  Outlook 10 days, Outlook on the Web 30 days). So it really does behoove you to check on a regular basis.

Follow the steps below to restore email from your junk folder:

  1. Select the message that you would like to recover.
  2. From your Ribbon, select Report | Not Junk.
  3. Outlook will now ask you if you would like to report the sender as not being junk.
  4. To Recover mail that has been removed from your Deleted Items folder, follow the steps below:
  5. If you cannot find an item in your Deleted Items folder, the next best place to search is your Recoverable Items folder.
  6. To access this you must be using a PC or MAC, and not a mobile browser.

So, if you do not see the deleted messages you would like to recover, they most likely have been permanently removed from your Deleted items folder or your Junk Email folder, which is why you should not store your messages anywhere except your Inbox.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Select the Deleted Items folder in the left-hand side of Outlook on the web.
  2. At the top of the message list, select Recover Items deleted from this folder.
  3. Now select the items you would like to recover and select Restore.
