How To Download An Attachment In Gmail

A guy called me and he wanted to know how to download an attachment and how to send it to someone else. He had a Gmail account, so I printed this up for him to show him how to do it.

Open your Gmail and click on the email with the attachment you want to save. You should see that the attachment has a thumbnail view at the bottom of the message window. I emailed myself with an attachment to show as an example.

If you move your mouse cursor over the thumbnail attachment, you’ll see it change. There are three icons. The arrow pointing down is the one you want if you’re going to download the document. Just click on it. The middle icon that looks like the recycle symbol is to save it to Google Drive. The last pencil symbol is to edit the file in Google Docs.

Then he wanted to know how to send it to others. To create a new email, just click on the Compose button in top left-hand corner and a New Message window will open. Put in the Recipients — email addresses to send to — the Subject and type a message in the blank space below. If you want to attach a document, then click on the paperclip icon and navigate to the folder on your hard drive when prompted.

Then just click on Send.

25 MB. If your file is greater than 25 MB, Gmail automatically adds a Google Drive link in the email instead of including it as an attachment.

  1. Opps. Just re-loggged in.
The file size for these attachments?
    Do you know the limit?
It seems to change from time to time.
    Thanks!
