How To Create Default Tables In Word 365

As I am sure you know by now, the table options in Word are plentiful and very flexible by default. You know how it is, you create a table and every single time you spend time modifying the properties.  If it seems you use the same properties for each table you create, you can save a lot of time by changing the default table.

When you create your new table, it will already have your most often used properties and settings.

Follow the steps below to learn how:

  1. Select your modified table.
  2. Right-click Table Grid in the in the Table Styles group on the contextual Table Design tab.
  3. Select Set as Default.
  4. In the dialog that appears, select the All documents based on the Normal.dotm template?

If you retain the default, which is This document only?, Word will use the format as the default in the current document.
