How To Combine Lined Headings On One Line In Word TOC

Your Table of Contents in Word is the same as a Table of Figures. They both include all levels of headings and other styles sometimes. So should you have two or more lines in the same style (i.e., Heading 1) Word will include them as separate lines in your Table of Contents or Table of Figures.

Follow the steps below to learn how to include two, or three-lined headings in one line:

  1. Place your pointer at the end of the first line of your heading or title
  2. Press Shift | Enter which will insert the new line break instead of the new paragraph break
