As you all may know I post videos on YouTube for Daves Computer Tips and for my own gaming channel. You can check both the channels out here:
YouTube Channels:
Recently, I was asked a question by a friend of mine about how they could add or even update their profile picture. He wanted to know how to do on his YouTube channel. Most of us have seen videos on this website and all the channels have a profile picture on them. The image appears to the left of the video title and is at the top left under the Channel Banner. It is all about branding and having the right profile picture is a must. The good thing is, I did not need to do any research on this subject since I already have the knowledge. Time to share that knowledge and show all of you how to add or update that pic.
How To Change YouTube Profile Picture
This will be shown using the Website and not on the app.
Step 1: Head over to YouTube and log in to your account.
Step 2: Once logged in, look to the top right. You should see your profile picture. Click it.
Step 3: The menu will appear with two choices we are looking for:
- YouTube Studio
- Switch Account
Since we want to change the profile picture of my Channel then we must choose Switch Account. You might already be logged on to the YouTube Account that is the channel but for this article, we are going this way. Click Switch Account.
Step 4: On this menu, click on the Channel you want to do this for. We will be choosing DavesComputerTips for this example.
Step 5: After you are on the right account, look to the top right again. Click on the profile image again for the menu. Now click the YouTube Studio option.
Step 6: You are now on the Channel dashboard. Look to the left menu and find Customization. Click it.
Step 7: Under this screen look in the middle and click on the tab labeled Branding.
Step 8: The top option on this screen is the Profile image. You can remove, change it, or even add one if you have not already done so. For this, we are choosing Change. Click it.
Side Note: They let you know the picture dimensions that your profile image needs to be:
It’s recommended to use a picture that’s at least 98 x 98 pixels and 4MB or less. Use a PNG or GIF (no animations) file. Make sure your picture follows the YouTube Community Guidelines.
Step 9: The File Explorer window will appear. Now locate the image you want to use, select it, then click the Open button on the bottom right.
Step 10: The Customize picture window will appear. Here you can crop the image and adjust it a little. The full box is all you can work in so adjust wisely. After you are done adjusting, click the Done button on the bottom right.
You now have your new or changed profile image uploaded to your YouTube Channel.
