Skype
Many of us still use Skype for talking with friends, family, and business associates or even gaming (yep gaming… you Streamers know what I’m talking about). Yes, Skype is still around and being used by more than 74 million users as of 2016 according to Skype Statistics. Now, you might not know all the options you have with Skype even if you have been using it for years. There is one particular option I would like to cover in this article, and that is your Display Name.
Display Names
The default when setting up your Skype account is your real name. We don’t want our real name on there for the world to see. Keep our identity private like super heroes do (no masks that would look weird). You may ask, “How do I change/update my Skype display name?”
As usual, you asked the right question. This is not as difficult as you might think. Follow these steps and you can change your display name to anything you wish. Like “Tech Man!!”, or “Super Tech Man!!”
Let’s get this started…
Changing Your Display Name In Skype
Step 1: Find your Skype icon on your computer and click it. I have mine on the Desktop with all my other icons. I do not keep myself logged in to Skype, so I need to enter in all my login information.
Step 2: Once in Skype, you will want to click on your profile name next to your picture. This will bring up your profile information.
Step 3: Next, click where your name appears at the top and you will be able to change it to what you wish. Once done, click on the check mark.
Side Note: Anyone who has you on their contact list can change your name on their side to anything they wish. This only affects what they see so if you wanted to do the same on your side, then you can. Click on their name in your contact list and when they appear in the middle of your screen, click on their name. It is that easy.
Now you can have some fun changing your name, and your Skype buddies’ names.
What SuperHero name would you use for your Skype profile name– Pac-Man? 😉
