I use PayPal for my home business and the job I work during the day to pay the bills. This last week I was logged into my business PayPal account and while I was looking around I got an idea for a How-To article that may help my readers out. On a PayPal business account, there is something called Account Preferences. In this section, you can change your Time Zone the Language of your account, and Add a Customer Service Message. All of these can be very helpful if you move or decide your account is easier for you in another language. Whatever the reason you want to do this, I’m going to go over the options you are given on the Account Preferences screen. Before we jump into this lesson, make sure you check out these other articles I have written about PayPal:
Now that you have caught up, it is time to start learning something new.
How To Change PayPal Account Preferences
I will be showing you how to do this on my PayPal Business Account using the website.
Step 1: Head over to PayPal and log in to your account. The one I’m logging into is my business account.
Step 2: After logging in, look to the top right and hover your mouse over your profile name. A menu will appear and you will need to click on Account Settings.
Step 3: On the Account Settings screen, look to the left menu. Under Account & Security find Account preferences. Click it.
Step 4: Here is where you can change the language, manage the time zone, add a customer service message, and close your account. Let’s click on the update link to the right of Preferred Language. Click it.
Step 5: On the Update Language window that will appear, you are given a box to select a language. Click the arrow on the right of the box for options. Choose the one you want to use. Then click the Save button at the bottom. Now on to updating your time zone.
Step 6: On the time zone window, you can click the arrow again here and they give you a list to choose from. I’m choosing the Pacific Time since that is where I’m at. As before, after selecting, all you need to do is click the Save button at the bottom. The last option I want to go over here is the Customer Service message.
Step 7: After clicking the update link to the right of this option you will be given some boxes to fill in. Here you can add a personalized message that will be displayed for your customers when they file a case with PayPal. Once you are done filling that in, move on down and you will see a few other options:
- Your Business Info (you can edit this by clicking on Edit to the right). This covers your business name and logo
- Below that is Choose the info you’d like on display. We recommend both (Customer Service Phone and Customer Service email). Click on the boxes to the left to select them
If you want to preview this before you save, click the preview button at the bottom. After you are done with the preview, scroll down to the bottom and click on the Close Preview button. Now it is time to click the Save and Close button at the bottom of the screen. Done!
That is what the Account Preferences on PayPal business account covers. Time to share your new knowledge with the world.
