How To Change Facebook Video Notifications

The last 3- 4 weeks I have been covering the Facebook topic. If you have missed any of those, here they are:

This week we are sticking with this topic and I’m going to teach you more about this platform. During my studies, I ran into the videos that you can watch on Facebook. Almost immediately, I received a notification about a video. This got me thinking there must be a way to change settings on the video notifications. After doing some research, I found out where Video Notification settings were located, plus how you can adjust them. Before I show you how this is done, make sure to check out some of my other articles I have written:

Now that is out of the way, let us start this week’s lesson on Facebook.

How To Change Facebook Video Notifications

This will be shown on my Windows laptop using Facebook.com.

Step 1: Head over to Facebook and log in to your account.

Step 2: Once on, look to the left menu under your name. Find the link that says Video and click on it.

Step 3: The Video menu will appear and from this look to the top right. There you will see the Settings (gear icon) to the left of the title Video, which you will want to click on.

Step 4: Another menu will appear called Notification Settings.

Notification Settings: You can manage how you’re notified about updates to Video.

They give you two options on this menu:

Show notification dots (there is a switch to the right of that if you want to turn it on or off)
Custom Notifications

We will click on the Custom notifications link. Click it.

Step 5: After clicking on that, you will now be shown the Video Notifications Settings. Here you can change a few options:

Allow Video Notifications (Control all notifications for videos). Click the switch to the right to turn off/on all

Page Notifications:

New Videos (Get notified when pages you follow post new videos). Click the bell to the right
Manage Pages you follow (We will look at this in a moment)

Videos:

Save Videos (Get notified about videos you saved). Click the bell to the right

Suggestions:

What’s Trending (Get notified about trending videos). Click the bell to the right

Let’s click on the Manage Pages you follow to let you see how that part works.

Step 6: The Video Notifications window will appear for you. Here you will see all the pages you follow. You can even search your list with the Search box at the top. Once you find the one you wish to adjust, look to the right of their name. Now click the down arrow next to the word ‘Highlights’ (this seems to be the default option).

Step 7: A menu will appear and you are given a few choices:

All Videos (All video notifications from “Page name”)
Highlights (Suggested video notifications from “Page names)
None (No video notifications)

Click on the option you want and Done. Now you know how to change video notifications on your Facebook account.

Now that you know all about this, I have a bonus tip for you.

Bonus Tip: How To Change Facebook Video Notifications On Mobile

I will be showing this on my Motorola Edge Android phone.

Step 1: Find the Facebook app and tap it.

Step 2: Once on the home screen, look to the top right. There you will find your profile image and tap on that.

Step 3: On this screen find the Settings and privacy link. Tap it.

Step 4: The next menu will show the option called Settings. Tap it.

Step 5: Under the section called Preferences look for Notifications. Tap it.

Step 6: On the Notifications screen look for the option called Video. Tap it.

Step 7: Here is the option they offer on the App to adjust the notifications.

These are notifications for when people or pages you follow broadcast a live video.

At the top you are given the master option to shut off the notifications altogether.

Allow notifications on Facebook (Tap the switch to the right)

The other options you are given are under Where you receive these notifications:

Push
Email
SMS

You can turn these on or off by tapping the switch to the right. DONE!
