On most days I’m on my social media platforms doing what I do. Yesterday, I was on Instagram and decided to clean up some of my profile posts. This is something I think I should do more often than I do. What I mean is you can archive posts and it will remove them from your profile but not delete it from your account. This feature is great if you want to remove a post but not totally get rid of it. Since I know how to do this, I wanted to share this knowledge with all of you. As always, before we jump into this, please check out some of my other articles on Instagram:
Let’s start this new lesson and learn how to manage a new feature on your Instagram account.
How To Archive Posts On Instagram
I will be showing you how to do this using the Instagram App on my Motorola Edge Android phone.
Step 1: Find your app icon on your device and tap it.
Step 2: Once on the home screen, look to the bottom right corner and tap the profile pic.
Step 3: Now that we are on your profile screen, let’s learn how to add a post to the archives. Tap on one of your picture posts (I’ve found it doesn’t work on video posts).
Step 4: On the post, you will want to tap the 3 dots at the top right.
Step 5: You now should see a menu pop up. In this menu, tap on the Archive option. Tapping that will add the selected post to your archives and remove it from the profile screen. Do this with all the posts you wish to archive. Now it is time to show you where those archived posts reside. Head back to the main profile screen.
Step 6: Now look to the top right and tap the 3 lines. The menu will appear and you will see Archive.
Step 7: Here is the Archive screen where all of those posts live. You can do a few things here. One is to tap the 3 dots at the top and a menu will pop up:
- Create highlight
- Settings
We will use Settings for this article. Tap it.
Step 8: On the Settings screen, you get one option and only one:
- Save Story to Archive
Automatically save your story to your archive so you don’t have to save it to your phone. Only you can see your archive.
All you have to do is tap the switch to the right to turn this off or on. Now go back to the Archive screen and tap one of the posts.
Step 9: On that post, tap the 3 dots at the top right corner. Another menu will appear with two choices:
- Show on Profile (this will remove it from the archive and add it back to your profile)
- Delete
You can delete this altogether or add it back to your profile. Done…
That is how you can archive and find those archived posts on your Instagram account.
