We all love playing on Facebook and videos are becoming a big part of that. My wife and I enjoy finding fun videos to watch while scrolling through our FB feed. This has become the big thing for most social media and I don’t see it stopping. The reason I bring this up is that you can adjust the Video Settings on those that show on your feed. Yep, from quality to turning on captions or turning on and off auto-play you can adjust how it works. This can be done on Facebook and on your mobile device App. I will show you how to do both in this article. Time to get ready to learn some social media tips that will make you look cooler in front of your friends. Now open up those devices and let us get started.
How To Adjust Video Settings On Facebook
The first one we will be showing this on is the website on my Windows Laptop.
Step 1: Log in to your account.
Step 2: Once logged in, look to the top right and click the down arrow. On this menu, find the Settings & Privacy link. Click it.
Step 3: Another menu will appear and we will need to click on the Settings link.
Step 4: On this window look to the left menu. You will see at the bottom the Videos link. Click it.
Step 5: Here is the Video Settings screen where you can adjust the settings. In this window, you can change a few things:
- Video Default Quality (SD or HD)
- Auto-Play Videos (On or Off)
- Always Show Captions (On or Off)
- Caption Display (edit)
- Video Default Volume (Default or Quiet)
By clicking on the down-arrows to the right of each choice, you will get different options as I have shown in the list above.
Video Quality: If you click on the down-arrow here, you can change the video quality from SD only to HD if available.
Video Default Volume Option: On the Video Volume option, you can make sure those videos start out quiet when they start playing.
Step 6: Click on the edit option on the Captions Display. That edit option is to the right of that section’s top corner. Once in, you will see this screen. Here they will allow you to adjust the Caption’s appearance:
- Background Color
- Background Opacity
- Text Color
- Text Size
They do give you a preview window at the top. Once you have made all your adjustments click the Save Changes button at the bottom.
That is how you can do this on your computer. Now let us move on over to that mobile device.
How To Adjust Video Settings On Facebook App
This will be shown on my Android Phone using the Facebook App.
Step 1: Find your Facebook App on your mobile device and tap it.
Step 2: Once on, you will need to look to the top right for the menu link (three horizontal bars). If you do not see that, it might be an Icon of the Of Facebook (App update). It will still be in the same place. Tap it.
Step 3: In this menu, tap on the Settings & Privacy link.
Step 4: Then you will need to tap the Settings link.
Step 5: On this screen, scroll all the way down until you see Media and Contacts. Tap it.
Step 6: Under Media and Contacts, you will find some Video Settings options. At the top you have Video Quality, then Autoplay option, and then Video and Photo Settings. They do not offer the caption option in the App that I could find. Make your changes and you are all done.
