In 2000, Microsoft released the Windows CE 3.0 operating system.
Windows CE 3.0 was the base OS for the Pocket PC 2000, Handheld PC 2000, Pocket PC 2002 and Smartphone 2002 platforms. Some of the Windows CE 3.0 enhancements included better real-time and multimedia capabilities and support for more languages.

In 2004, Version 0.9 of the Mozilla Firefox web browser was released.
A ‘technology preview’, it included a new default theme (Winstripe), the ability to import metadata such as Favorites, History, Settings, Cookies and Passwords as well as a smaller download size (4.7 MB).
