XP PRO slow to BOOT

Having a problem with my system. It's taking much to long to BOOT.

I ran the "EVENTVIEWER" and found a problem. Whenever this happens I see in the EVENTVIEWER codes 7001,7026 and 7022. These appear each time I boot the system.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

I'm guessing you have, or have had, a samsung and canon camera. Is that right?

Did you recently upgrade the monitor driver? If not too much trouble, uninstall the Camera and see if you can boot faster, Mindblower!

Hi:
I did not upgrade the monitor driver to my knowledge.

I just uninstalled all the Canon software and it boots much quicker.

Reinstalled the Canon software. Same problem again. I believe WIA(Windows Image Acquisition Service) may be corrupted. Can we fix that?

Digital camera makers ship proprietary software with their new cameras. However, by the time a customer purchases the equipment, there can easily be an update to this software. I'd check Canon's Support for new downloads for the software you have. It's a good idea to check for firmware updates also.

Frankly, I've never installed the Nikon or Pentax software that shipped with my DSLR bodies. Almost any editor/viewer will work fine. Freeware favorites are Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/ and Photofiltre (uncheck the Ask Toolbar option) http://photofiltre.free.fr/frames_en.htm .
Faststone Image Viewer is well thought of by many. http://www.faststone.org/FSVie.....Detail.htm

For payware solutions, Photoshop Elements (Recommended Software in the main DCT newsletter and Corel's PaintShop Photo Pro X3 http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... 4951547051 are similarly priced. Most Photoshop filters will work in PSP, by the way.

Hi:
I've already checked and updated the software. That did not help. I still believe the problem is WIA service(7022).
How would I check for firmware for the Canon A540 Powershot.

You're welcome. The only thing I can think to suggest is setting WIA to manual. That way, it won't try to start while you're booting. These are the steps:

1. Click Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services.
2. Double-click the Windows Image Acquisition Service.
3. From the Start Up Type drop-down list, change the startup from Automatic to Manual.
4. Click Apply.
5. Click OK.
6. Reboot.

I guess the next thing to try is see what's 'hanging up' at the startup. I'd look in three areas: malware, startup, and Windows famous 'search loops'.
first thing I'd do is run 'SuperantiSspyware'*. (great time to set a 'Restore Point)
Then I'd check 'Task Manager - Processes' to see if there was anything that was eating up a lot of memory or CPU cycles.
I'd also run 'CCleaner'* ( run both 'programs' and 'registry' sections on your 'C:/ drive'). The default settings will do no harm.
If it's still slow, you might want to get a 'startup manager' program to make sure you don't have too many programs starting at once. Just Google "best freware startup manager" and pick one (I've never seen any 'bad' ones but a few are a little clumsy to work with).
And you might want to download 'Page Defrag"* to make sure your 'Page Files' aren't fragmented (that can slow ya down!)

* = very good freeware
