Read about this program in a recent newsletter and thought it sounded good. Downloaded it and when I went to install it said that it required .net framework. Since I don't have that on my computer (or want it) I clicked cancel. Went in uninstall a program and computer just froze up - had to turn if off manually. Any suggestions what happened? Thanks

It shouldn't have actually installed anything if you didn't have .Net installed or did not install it. It may have created a directory in Program Files, but I doubt it made any changes to your system.
Did the computer reboot OK?
Just curious, but why didn't you want to install .Net? It is a sizeable download, but it's very useful for a programmer - it is a basic programming foundation and a programmer can use the functionality provided by .Net to simplify their program (i.e., they don't have to reinvent the wheel).
Hey Cricket - Just to add to what Dave has already said. Following your comment, I searched half a dozen or more reviews, plus about the same number of download sites and could find no reference at all to additional requirements such as .NET Framework.
Not saying that .NET Framework is definitely not a requirement, it's just rather unusual that nobody mentions it. I installed on a Win7 machine with .NET Framework already installed, so that's maybe why I didn't come across it myself.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. D/l .Net and program installed correctly but when I tried to uninstall a program computer would still freeze up. I am on slow dialup which is why I hate d/l a large program. I disabled my firewall (Online Armor) and everything worked perfectly. I uninstalled Online Armor and installed PrivateFirewall and things are working just fine now.
I am trying to make this computer last until MS stops supporting XP - next April I think - then I will purchase a new one.

Yes, it's my only option - live out in the country. Have begged AT&T for years to get DSL out to us but no luck. There is a wireless service in our area and I have had them out but we are down in a valley and couldn't receive the radio signal. I do use Cricket Broadband and it is a little better than the dialup I received but not much. There are some satellite services but they are out of my price range. Thanks
