I have two people who have monitors that turn off while they are typing. One user says it only happens to him while he is using MS Word and the other while she is just using her PC. Both people say that moving the mouse brings the screen back on and that whatever they have typed while monitor is off is there on screen. I have checked out all the power functions and they are all OK. I have checked the monitor setup and turned off their power save and monitors still turn off. Both people are using Windows XP on desktop PCs. Are there any obscure registry settings that can do this or ???
I thought while they kept typing the screen would stay on. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are these onboard graphics or dedicated video cards?
Is it shutting down, or going to stand by?
What kind of keyboard are they using (USB, PS/2, A/T, wireless, etc)?
I would start with a firmware upgrade of the video hardware. It sounds like the monitor is getting a signal that the computer is inactive and to go to stand by.
Another option is to try a program called [url=http://mousejiggler.codeplex.com/releases/view/49933:3newdxy1]Mouse Jiggle[/url:3newdxy1] which...quite simply....jiggles the mouse to prevent screen savers from turning on (a useful tool when working on someone's computer and you don't have their password. ) If this solves the problem, it could possibly (though terribly unlikely) be a keyboard issue. I'd still start with the video firmware / drivers.
I would ask, "what is similar between these two, type of monitor, did they buy from same store, how old are the monitors, etc.". To find two individuals with the same rare problem, well, it's one for the grandkids, Mindblower!

I suspect the power settings for Monitor to turn off after certain time.
Change the Monitor setting to turn-off never, while both on power as well as battery..
