Installed Linux Mint Mate 18 on one of my small SSD's this morning. I will say it is fast and it plays DVD's and whatever else right out of the box.
This distro is definitely worth looking into.
No dual boot with Windows with this install.
These are My boot entries create by using Easy BCD.
I have tried to create these boot entries using W7 as the boot drive but W10 refuses to boot from W7, so I am left with using W10 as my boot drive. The only problem I see with this, is W10, and the next time it decides to do a major update. I could use the Linux drive and do a sudo update-grub, but I really don't want to use grub as my boot loader. If anyone has any advice, then feel free to post.
And here are the three OS's on three different drives along with the partitions for the different drives.
