Hi all:

Have an issue with a message that has popped up that says "Windows Search Engine Disabled". She is running Vista Home Premium with Office 2007. Outlook tells her it didn't shut down correctly and should be restarted in Safe Mode.

Not sure if the two things are related in any way.

Does anyone have any experience with this search disabled situation? Is this something that can be enabled somewhere in Vista?

Thanks

I stole this from here: [url:1lyhqwjh]http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/31205767/windows-search-engine-is.aspx[/url:1lyhqwjh]

[quote:1lyhqwjh]Windows search may have been disabled. To fix this, go to the Run
command and type: services.msc

When Services window opens you will probably find that Windows Search
has been disabled. Re-enable it by right clicking on Windows Search
and change the Startup Type to Automatic. Then where it says Service
Status click the Start button to restart the program.[/quote:1lyhqwjh]

Hope that helps (in the question from that forum, their problem was related to Outlook too).

Hi Ziggie:

The information you found concerning the search problem was the right answer and I was able to correct it be using the "services" in Windows to enable Windows Search.

Thanks again for the help.
