When I first read the thread I immediately thought of 3 things - 1) Heat 2) RAM & 3) possibly a Spy Sweeper conflict.

1) Assuming your temp monitor is correct it would eliminate heat. Though you state it will likely freeze again if you immediately reboot, which could point to heat.

2) You've replaced the RAM and said you did a mem test from within Windows. Of course that test is a very basic test so something a little more thorough might be in order. If you don't do a restart (i.e., you don't reboot, but do a complete shutdown then start it) does it freeze again?

3) You've removed the program so this is out of the equation!

If you don't mind I would like to see a list of programs from My Uninstaller just to see if anything obvious stands out. It seems you are into the "games". Are you overclocking anything? RAM? CPU? GPU? Have you changed any settings in the BIOS?

In the mean time if you haven't updated device drivers lately you might want to start visiting the manufacturers sites for your hardware and get the latest versions.

I haven't tried completely shutting it down then starting back up. I usually just hit the reset button. I will try it next time. I had some Gskill DDR3 that wasn't compatible with my motherboard so I thought that was the problem for my freezing, so I replaced it with some Corsair that was compatible. I manually put in the latency and voltage settings for my memory. Now, I have not manually put in the settings for my CPU and now that i think about it, i bought the cpu off a friend and don't know if it is compatible with motherboard...I will check that now. I don't overclock my computer (unless its overclocking itself, I don't know enough about overclocking since Its not an interest of mine). I am having trouble with computer keeping fan speed up, I'm gonna look on nVidia forums to see what I can do about the nVidia program. I have all the latest drivers for pretty much everything; I scan nVidia like its an obsession (graphics, sound, network).
I did memtest program once with both sticks of memory and got about 30 mins through no problem before i got bored and canceled it.

My comp froze. Temps were CPU - 54C, GPU - 55C, Mobo - 47C.

Seems I cannot attach the .txt file. Want me to put it in inline text? It may be a little too much, so I can edit out windows updates and Office updates?

That would be fine, Ryan.

I want to say that it's my GPU overheating, when it hits above 60C it likes to freeze, but the computer also freezes when the temps are down in the low 40's-50's. What should my temps be around?

I previously bought a bigger CPU fan that I never got around to installing, I may through that in.

Another idea I had was maybe my cases airflow was not so good. So i took off my cover and the temps didn't decrease.

I know that my GPU is known for getting too hot. When I change my GPU fan speed up it seems to lower the temps of all my components, but the thing is I am having profile issues plus vista keeps blocking my start up profile, so that's been annoying. (I'll be working on that in near future).

For future use, would it be good to partition my hard drive between OS partition and the other partition for my files. If so, how big should the OS partition be?

don't know what to tell you on the temps (sorry), but as for partitioning it's more a matter of personal preference.

in the old days I used to carefully partition my os and everything else apart.

but programs default to the C drive, and there were some I forgot to move, and data ended up in a cacophony of places.

so it's definitely easier to have one big partition.

If you do split them though, I'd give 15-20 GB to your OS partition.

You could probably get by with 10, but you will have to have excellent disk management at that level.

Got rid of JMB36X Raid Configurer. It was installed with my Motherboard software (which doesn't work anymore).
EA Download Manager doesn't start with Windows. I have it because I bought some games from Direct to Drive, need it to play those games (so it says).
I don't even use Geek Squad UPS software. Uninstalled
For now I will keep NVIDIA Performance Monitor. I use it to control my GPU Fan Speed.
Death to Punkbuster. Two different services start and run with windows.
Need the Bradford Persistent Agent - or the school throws me offline. Luckily I am not at school for next month.
Cue Card helps me with notecards.
PhysX doesnt even work on Vista 64 bit
MV RegClean does a bit better job then Glary, but i can switch it out with ccleaner
System Requirements Lab - don't remember what it is, but I've used it recently for something or another. Will look into it.
NVIDIA System Monitor - shows my temps.
LiveUpdate 3.2 (Symantec Corporation) - uninstalled
OpenPandora 0.6.9 does not load up with windows startup.
Autodesk Student Community Download Tool is something my roomate needed, uninstalled.

Overall uninstalling:
JMB36X Raid Configurer
Geek Squad UPS software
Punkbuster
PhysX
LiveUpdate 3.2 (Symantec Corporation)
Autodesk

Didn't find any updates to my SoundMAX BlackHawk.
Are services same as the start-up programs? I keep my msconfig pretty clean of start-up crap.

If uninstalling these won't work I will look into the other programs you listed. Thank you very much.

Ryan,
Services are programs that start (or can start depending on settings) prior to you logging on the computer.

Here is an update:

Since I brought my computer home yesterday, it has been freezing every now and then immediately after I log in. Now since the last post it freezes every time I log in. I've been using reset button and completely shutting it down. It froze five times in a row. So, now I am in safe mode (yay!). I really want to know what is doing this, but I am almost wanting to give up and just reformatting (sigh).

I am going to try and see if it will start up regular again...

It froze again, so I let it sit off for 10 mins, then started it up and let it sit at log in screen for awhile. Running fine..for now. Not sure what was going on there...

so...it worked in safe mode, but froze when you logged in normally?

is it freezing at all in safe mode?

Can you create a new Windows account, log into it, and see if it causes you to freeze up?

In a mad rage I reformatted my computer last night. And so far it has froze once in windows and once in the log-in screen. Here is what I have installed.
Before reformatting: After awhile I got it to log in and start-up normally; It never froze in safe mode.

I think we've all done that at one point or another!

I would really check your device drivers, especially since it didn't freeze in safe mode. Make sure you have the latest 64bit drivers!

For your GPU and chipset I would go to Nvidia's site.

I would also download [url=http://www.memtest.org/:1nbanr9k]Memtest86+[/url:1nbanr9k], follow the instructions and let it fun for a few hours.

It is possible that a drive, which is going bad, could cause symptons like this, but I think you would be seeing other issues.
