Hi all - A friend of mine has asked me how she can pin a shortcut to 'Computer' to the 'Classic' start menu in Vista. I have tried and cannot find a way to do that.

The classic start menu in Vista has just one panel which does not include a shortcut to 'Computer'. Is there a way to do this??

tia.....JIM

Leave the Start Menu is 'normal mode' and right click on Computer. Choose 'Show on Desktop', which will put a shortcut on the desktop. Change the Start Menu to 'classic' then drag the new Computer shortcut on the desktop to the Start Orb, which will open the Start Menu (classic). While still holding down the mouse button move the pointer to the top of the Start Menu and drop it. Your Computer shortcut will now be at the top of your classic start menu.

You can delete the shortcut on the desktop if you do not want it.

Ema,

It's all about dragging and dropping. Computer is 'special' in that it doesn't appear on the desktop by default. Any other icon for any program should be able to be pinned. Just click and hold while you drag the icon over the Start Orb. Holding the icon over the Orb will cause the Start menu to open. Move the icon to the top and you should see a horizontal line appear when the icon will go. Release the mouse button and you're done!
