I partioned my lenovo idea pad flex 2. Now my windows 8.1 is unable to reset PC/ refresh . so I tried to create custom refresh image from the notes that I had found in this forum. It creates custom refresh image folder but also shows error code 0 x 80070003 .but still I am unable to reset PC/ refresh. Why is it showing error code. Help provided will be highly appreciated.
Or shall I download the OS being provided by Microsoft online and format the PC

Hi Yash, and welcome to the DCT Forum.

The Refresh function does some very hit and miss, I went through the same procedure myself, thought I'd done everything correctly, but was still unable to complete the refresh process. And those error codes are so generic, they are practically useless. These issues involve so many different factors, it's almost impossible to diagnose the problem without any hands on access.

Why do you need to refresh or reinstall, what's happened?

Are you trying to save the image to external media (USB drive, etc)? That error often times results from a mount point error. The easiest fix is to use another tool to image the drive.

Did you partition the C: drive? once you do a new refresh using the command prompt it places the new created image on the C: drive in the root directory and becomes the automatic default for a refresh but if by chance you accidentally formatted the c drive that would not only delete your system but the refresh as well. there is really nothing you can do if you did that except format and reinstall a fresh copy.

However if you know how you can always take the drive out of the computer and hook it up to another computer via usb external hard drive enclosure and see if the c: drive is still there along with the rest of your data.
