On clicking on to IE11 the URL in the address bar reads " http://http://www.hotsheet.com. I know this is wrong as it will not connect to it, but i have used that website as a homepage for many years and all of a sudden it changed for some reason. '
Now when I open internet options to change it to what it should be it still continues to show and extra set of digits,in options it will not allow me to put it back the right way. When I click on "OK" it reverses back to the incorrect URl. I am using windows 7 professional on a home built set that has been running smoothly for 5 years. This problem is one of only a handful that I have encountered in all that time. One other thing that I should mention is that when I go into favorites and click on that site " http://www.hotsheet.com, it promptly shows up as asked.
Hi Shamrock, and welcome to the DCT forum!
Try this:
Open Internet Explorer and navigate to the correct site via your Favorite's link.
Then go to Tools>Internet Options and, under "Home Page", click on the Use Current button.
If you end up with two entries, backspace the incorrect entry out so only the correct entry is displayed.
Then close out clicking Apply then OK.
Restart Internet Explorer.
If that doesn't work, it's likely you've been hit by some kind of redirect malware, possibly during a recent installation.
I suggest you download the latest version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and run a full scan: https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers... Jim
