In Windows 7 the Quick Start toolbar is no more. You can re-create the Quick Start toolbar if you really want to but the new system of pinning application shortcuts to the taskbar is just as good, if not better, anyway.
This is obviously best kept for applications that you run regularly and often, otherwise the taskbar will get overcrowded. I have just 5 applications pinned; Windows Live Mail, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Snagit and Windows Explorer.
