Hi Folks
Have encountered a problem recently with Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate. When I download an exe file and try to run it I get the following message: "This program is blocked by Group Policy. For more information contact your systems administrator". Have run it as administrator but makes no difference.
My machine is a personal one and I'm the administrator. Have tried looking for Group Policy Editor in my system but it doesn't appear to be there. Have run the system repair disk but it makes no difference either to the problem.
Any idea of how the problem is caused and what the remedy might be. Never ever had this problem before. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Kind regards
Gerald

Hi Gerald - Welcome to the DCT forum!

Have you by any chance recently installed CryptoPrevent, the software which is specifically designed to block the CryptoLocker infection? Or anything similar?

Exactly which version of Windows 7 are you running?

Cheers... Jim

Hi Jim

Thanks for the welcome and quick reply.
The answer to your first question is yes.
Second: I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Gerald

Okay, problem solved. (I think)

Sounds like the executable is being blocked by CryptoPrevent, in order for it to run you'll need to whitelist it in CryproPrevent.

Click on 'Whitelist', then on 'Whitelist Editor'. Now use the 'browse' button to locate the executable and add it to the whitelist.

That should do it,
Cheers... Jim
