The OS setup is what I've now come to expect from MS Daniel. It's dumbed down because MS don't think we need to know what's going on in the background.
I'll have to double check WU.
I never used Media Centre, but will probably try it out in Win 7, which is still my default OS as per my Win8 sucks! article.
No problems with Spartan and I imagine they're still refining it.
Those damn notifications are irritating, even though I've turned them off.
Games run with a lot of lag, but I'm hoping that will be ironed out in the RC.

I better go and fire it up again as I'm on Win 7 at the moment.
It really deserves an SSD and when I can afford it, that's what I'll be doing on both machines.
Spartan (I wish they had kept that name) and IE11 wouldn't open up a reply box in here so I installed Firefox. I had wanted to run Win 10 with only the default browsers and no Chrome.
I fail to see why we now have to go to control panel to change notification area icons.
That issue with the "reply box". Why is that an issue with IE11 and Spartan and not with FF. Is it because FF is still a 32bit browser. The DCT web site is where I encounter this issue the most.
Their are still a lot of issues to be fixed concerning Spartan/Edge browser and with W10.
Got W10TP Build 10122 installed. Didn't find an issue with the start menu, don't know why it would default back to full page unless it was in tablet mode. I had to install FF to be able to post. The only other big thing was the movie app, take away Media Center and give users a movie app to buy and rent movies. Don't quite understand the logic their.
It's where the money is I suppose, but MS had better come up with a killer app to compete with the likes of Netflix, let's face it.
Also, one has to get used to the fact that Windows is now going all minimalist like some fancy architect is in charge now. It's all directed towards speed and memory use though, which can't be a bad thing.

OK, but eggs and omelettes give me a bellyache, hope this whole mess don't turn into one big bellyache. This thing is going to affect a lot of users and their PC's before all is said and done. Using my 8.1 PC and have to use my Linux VM so I can post in DCT. Don't have FF installed on this machine.
You guys seem to having a nice old chat so please pardon the intrusion.
My biggest concern, and if the information is correct, is that I'm hearing Windows 10 on a UEFI system MUST have Secure Boot enabled, as in it will be compulsory. That would be deal breaker for me.
Have you guys heard anything on this?

If your mobo doesn't support secure boot, like both of mine, where would that leave us?
I don't know much about secure boot, but from what I've read,it's not good news.
My Gigabyte mobo is only 6 months old and is uefi.
Jim, I am booting the W10TP from another HDD with the Secure Boot disabled. I did put the HDD with W10TP first in order followed with the HDD that has W7.
I select the HDD at mobo post instead of using Easy BCD to rewrite the MBR.
If I understand what I read is that W10 does not have to have a switch to disable Secure Boot and probably the final release of W10 will only boot on a UEFI mobo.
That will only leave W7 and W10 that will boot from UEFI mobo.
Would be a very good idea to either create a disk image or a disk clone before over writing either W7 or W8 with W10.
