Windows 10 Compatibility Test

Using the Windows 10 ISO I wanted to test my computer for compatibility to the new Creators Edition because it is rather old. It's currently running the Anniversary Edition.

I tried this command: setup /compat scanonly
I got a screen with the words that the setup was starting and it returned to the CMD window. Nothing seemed to happen though.

I've tried several variations of the same process to no avail. I checked the log files - nothing.

Any ideas?

Hi steve823,

If you are already successfully running the Anniversary Update, then you have a computer that is compatible with the Creators Update,
Richard

That's good to know. Thanks.

Got any idea why that command wouldn't work?

Hi Steve,
I do believe you will have to open an elevated command prompt and run something like this from the root of the CD or USB media. Or navigate to Setup and then run the commands.
(start /wait setup.exe /Auto Upgrade /Quiet /NoReboot /DynamicUpdate Disable /Compat ScanOnly

echo %errorlevel%). You would paste both commands into the prompt.
As Richard has stated, if you are running the Anniversary updated then your machine should be compatible with the Creator update. Be advised though, even if your machine can run W10, some of the old hardware my not run everything W10 installs.

While there is no such tool as Windows 10 Compatibility Checker there are ways by which one can understand if the pc is eligible for a Windows 10 upgrade.
By looking at the hardware requirements and then before upgrading, updating all the drivers of the PC.
