I just upgraded my motherboard and now I can’t reactivate my Windows 10 license. Is there a workaround for this or do I have to shell out $130? All of the product keys for sale on ebay seem really sketchy too. Any help is much appreciated!
Hi miller10,
Microsoft is usually pretty good about reactivating licenses when a major computer component dies and needs replacing.
Here is a PC World article that explains a lot about getting a new license and or re-activating one.: https://www.pcworld.com/article/3400840/how-to-get-windows-10-cheap-or-even-for-free.html#toc-2
Hope this helps,
Richard
Agree with Richard. I had this same problem not so long ago. I used the telephone option to contact MS and didn't need to explain anything, just said I couldn't activate and the MS rep provided me with a new product key.
MS is keen to see everyone using Windows 10 so they are very lenient with this scenario at the moment.
