Many of you may know that beginning in the first December issue of the DCT newsletter our very own Ozbloke (Jim Hillier) will begin writing an article in each issue targeting freeware (free software). There has been some discussion about titles among Jim, Carol, Ken, and I. I think the consensus is Freeware Focus, but I thought I would get some other opinions. Let us know what you think!

I vote Other.

i think it's a catchy heading.

(of course, I meant something else, but Other is funnier).

How about: Freeware Freeway

Richard,
DCT is a "hanging chad free zone". It's in the fine print! Sorry no recounts!

Zig, I think I've found your calling in life - comedy. You crack me up!

Thanks..I think.

Maybe the voting results got hacked? Is there a paper trail? Are you sure they're accurate? We should launch an investigation, complete with a re-vote, immediately.

I had another idea too: Cheapskate paradise.

You had better find a nomex suit. I think you just called people who use freeware "cheapskates". You are in big, big trouble. Of course, I am as cheap as they come.

How 'bout if I stuff the ballot box with write-in votes for one of Ziggie's concoctions? We could overpower your paltry two votes with a few clicks of the meeses.

A Software Soup Kitchen?

Enough of the falderal - I stand by my original vote - proudly, defiantly and in quaking fear of losing my DCT membership!

Dave -

"A rose by any other name ...."

Call it what you will but, with Jim at the helm, it's certain to be first rate. Wouldn't expect anything less on DCT. Looking forward to it.

Or: "Jim's House of Freeware"

Maybe: "Free ways to do the things you used to pay for."

ah: "Freeky Free Software"

I like Jim's Friendly Freeware too. Very friendly.

I'm King Cheapskate and Open Source fanatic. I haven't bought a piece of software (except for Acronis--at a steep discount, thanks to DCT) in five years. These days you can literally go "off the paid software grid" and build a complete system from the ground up with no investment whatsoever in software.

Can't wait to see what goodies Jim comes up with.
