Hello,
When I click on a link to go to the website I want to visit but then it redirects to another website.

For example:
I wants to go to abc.com but the browser open a popup and redirects to xyz.com
How do I stop it?

Well...it depends (as it so often does) on the cause.

Is this being caused by malware? If so, removing the malware will solve the problem.
Is the server redirecting you? Not much you can do here. Disabling javascript can stop some servers from doing this, but not all.
Is your ISP redirecting you? Your only choice here is to change ISPs.
Is your router / switch / security software redirecting you? Look for ways to change these settings on whatever device is doing this.

Without more information, there's no way to tell. You said a pop up was doing this? You're getting unrelated popups to the site you're visiting? Or is the browser just opening in a new window?

Um....that's a good start I think.

I don't think it's malware. Because I have tried on diff computer and diff place (home, library). It happens the same.
When I click on the link on the website, then a new popup open and it redirects to another website. The original window goes to the website I want.

Here is the example:
Click on the link called abc.com ---> original window open it.
But also a new popup open and goes to the website called xyz.com

Hi Joel,

If you can rule out any other case Ziggie mentions, then it's probably caused by the site you're trying to visit. Yes, there are sites that do what you descripe in your example.
Do you have pop-up blocking enabled in your browser? I you don't, a good start would be to do that (the settings for which depend on the browser you use) and see if that makes a difference.

Hi Joel,

In order to try and help you further, please provide the following information:
1. Do you use all of the browsers you mentioned? What versions of them?
2. What extensions/ add-ons do you have installed on each of them (if any)?
3. Is this a general problem you're facing with pop-ups (separate browser windows) or do you have this problem with a specific site only?

Please, be as specific as possible and provide as much details as you can.
Keep in mind though, that I'm not familiar with Chrome, which means you're sort of on your own with that one, unless someone else can help you.

1. FF v3.6.12. IE 8, Google Chrome 7.0.517.44
2. FF adblock plus, Google Chrome default pop up built in. IE default pop up built in.
3. With some specific sites.

Joel - Best thing would be for you to provide us with a link to (or the exact name of) a site in question. That way we can test it on our own machine and see if the same thing is happening. That will prove whether the site is actually set up to work that way (universally) or if it is something specific to your machine.

Cheers....Jim

or....

if it's a site you're not proud of (what? I've seen them all at this point) feel free to PM me the site name and I shall use all discretion.

Yes, I can't post the link here because I will be banned if I do.

Yes, my research has shown that those um....specific sites like to open many many windows.

Nature of the beast and all that.
