I know. Hard to believe that after (what seems like) 20 years Google has finally removed the "Beta" tag from favorites like Gmail and Google Docs! We can all rest easy knowing Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Talk and all the rest of the Google Apps suite are now

Hey Dave - I'm not real sure about Google and their use of the 'Beta' term. Months ago they announced that 'Chrome' was out of Beta and there have been around 30 new versions since then....some of them labeled 'Beta'. I don't trust the beggars!!!!

I think it's two things:
One, dropping the Beta tag means larger businesses and other enterprise type places will be more willing to use Google for their domain. (Some companies get nervous around Beta software).
Two, with the new Chrome OS they're putting together, they are trying to move away from the Beta Joke they've become, so when they release an OS Beta, people don't assume it's the finished product.
Just my two guesses.
