Came across this headline just this morning....[b:glqqkpdz]"Your Worst Nightmare: A Water-Damaged iPhone"[/b:glqqkpdz]

Are they serious!!! Good grief, what sort of cloistered little world would you need to live in to regard a damaged iPhone as 'your worst nightmare'!!

I shake my head and wonder.

Obviously a damaged iPhone is far from your "worst" nightmare, but imagine if you lost your computer. Anyway...

From what I've heard the strip that detects water damage, which is usually a white sticker that turns redish pink when exposed to water, is in such a place that it is giving many false positives. Someone goes for a jog, or is in a humid environment and the sticker "triggers". The bad part is that once the sticker is activated Apple won't do ANYTHING for you as far as warranty repair. So, if your screen dies or the unit becomes inoperable you are completely out of luck (and money).

Well mate, I would just go out and buy a new one....immediately!! That's the whole point, iPhones, computers [i:37glxrqm]are[/i:37glxrqm] replaceable!!

If I were to compile a list of my 'worst nightmares', losing an electronic device would not even rate in the top ten, let alone as my [i:37glxrqm][u:37glxrqm]worst[/u:37glxrqm] [/i:37glxrqm]nightmare.....sheesh!!

Losing a loved one or losing my health would rate highly.

Losing my figure, losing my good looks, losing my hair, losing at lawn bowls......they all have some substance.

Losing my memory.......Uh, hang on. That's already happening. I think I'd better stop right there.

But losing an electronic device.......no, I don't think so!!

Isn't losing a phone and losing your memory the same thing?

Those water strips are ingenious devices - just don't live anywhere humid and never take your phone into the bathroom while someone is bathing...

True, but maybe what you've got stored on them isn't always?

Still, calling a "water-damaged iphone" your "worst nightmare" is exaggerated.
