Soluto (Beta) - "Anti-Frustration Software"

Soluto (Beta) is a brand new freeware product with the primary goal, at the moment anyway, of reducing boot times. Soluto tracks all the applications during system boot, and reports exactly which ones are slowing the process down.

Now before anyone jumps in and submits a dissertation on how all that can be achieved manually, I'm pretty certain the target demographic for this software would be the vast majority of 'average' users......although, many advanced users may certainly derive some benefit.

After installation and a reboot, Soluto does its thing, tracking every single process that runs during boot. It then allows you to easily drill down into the list of processes to see exact times for each one. To make it easier for the layman to understand, the applications are grouped into colour coded categories:
Green (no brainer - can safely be removed)
Amber (potentially removable - advanced users)
Grey (required - cannot be removed).

Simply hover the mouse cursor over any item to view a wealth of extra information associated with that particular process.

Soluto is under development and promises to expand functionality and overall areas of usefulness as new versions are released. The application does send some information about the PC back to Soluto's servers in order to analyze the system, but they have issued assurances that this is limited strictly to data about the processes, drivers, and system components.....no personal information is transmitted nor recorded anywhere.

I have a good mate in Victoria who knows just enough about computers to be dangerous (if ya know what I mean) and is also a download junkie. He used Soluto and reduced his boot time from just over 7 minutes to a much more acceptable 2 minutes.

I also installed Soluto but, as anticipated, it didn't have anywhere near the same impact on my system. I already have the startup items pretty much under control. Still, it was interesting to peruse the results and associated information....especially the boot times associated with each process.

I do believe Soluto may well develop into a 'must have' application, especially for the less experienced user.

You can read a couple of nice reviews for Soluto HERE[/url:wg3ovfu5] and HERE.[/url:wg3ovfu5]
