Hey Joel - From what Zig has said and after reading through the page he linked to; this is obviously a bug and is happening to other KMPlayer users too.

Do you already have the latest version Joel? If you do and this is worrying you then yes, block the outgoing connection at least until an update is released.

Cheers...Jim
Should I block the outbound for now until the next version fix? Does it happen to anyone else or just me?[/quote:ch0i3m48]

Joel, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Others are having the same problem (see Zigg's earlier reply), it appears it is actually trying to connect to KMPlayer's server, and the program is already installed on your computer.

You trusted the program enough to install it on your computer, so you have to extend that trust a little when/if said program connects to the outside world. What I mean is, they have little reason to do anything bad by connecting that they could not have already done when the program was installed on your computer.
According to this post (originally in Spanish, but this is the Google translated link):
Google translated page[/url:2upyp2oj] this is a known bug.[/quote:2upyp2oj]
That's interesting. All I can say is that it has to be a bug you get when you choose to [u:2upyp2oj]install[/u:2upyp2oj] KMPlayer; I never do, because of the Ask toolbar - I always extract the installation file with 7zip and keep only the files needed for the player to run properly, along with a config file to make it work as completely portable.
When "installed" like this and with "Check if new version is available" unchecked, I get no other outbound connections.

Joel, maybe you could try the same.

I am human

Dutchman's advice would take care of the problem also.

In your present installed state if you want to be "super sure" then block the connection. There is no reason for the player to connect other than check for updates, and you can do that manually by visiting the site.

On a side note, sometimes "videos" act like they have DRM so a player will try to connect to a site owned by the video creator where they will try to install malware. Another case is when the video will tell you it needs to install software, or a codec, to play the video. When you agree they will try to install malware. If either are the case... chances are high (very high) that you don't want to watch that video!
