For years, SIW has been my personal "gold standard" for hardware information and diagnostics; I'm sure many others feel the same. A few months ago, I found HWINFO32 but never got around to checking it out. I finally did a couple of days ago, and was pleasantly surprised. This is a very nice diagnostic tool that updates information about the hardware in a computer frequently and is available as a GUI based software (HWINFO32) and a DOS based version (HWINFO). It's available as an .exe - with installer - and a portable .zip file.
