Hi Guy's;
Hope all is well with everyone. Should have addressed this question sooner but kind of forget it. (Senior Moment I Guess)

Think that this is a job for Dave, Ziggy or one of the other US located members. Sorry, Jim but I remember you never had a dial-up connection.

I access the internet via a dial-up connection with MSN. My connection is of course built on/around my home phone number here in Hacienda Heights, CA and three [3] or four [4] local (same area code) numbers that connect me to MSN's servers.

I'll be going to NH on the 30th. to spend a few days with my sister. She does NOT even have a computer much less an e-mail account. Has a phone of course so I assume that I'll be able to plug into her wall jack. My question is what happens after that? Do I set-up a temporary account using her phone number or what? Please help. Thanks.

YES. It's one of those catch-22 questions. You'll need to establish an account to link that phone number to a dial-up account. If you have one, and know your sisters number, you might be able to contact your current provider and explain the situation. Don't forget your computer.

The same is a little different for DSL. They require at least a monthly contract and 5 business days to process the information (this are ball park figures).

But, a wireless connection is instant. Since it's just for a couple of days, if you have a lap-top, your best bet would be to get free access at major hotels with offer guests wifi. Might be able to get a connection from the parking lot. Then there are caf

Dial-up providers usually have access numbers for most areas of the country. MSN is no different. All you need to do is enter your sister's phone number at https://support.msn.com/accessnumbers.aspx?scrx=1 and use the most appropriate connection number. Change the number in your dial-up properties and tada - internet!

Something to remember is there are many places that offer free wi-fi, including most McDonalds and Starbucks locations (along with public libraries, hotel lobbys, etc).
