Thank you Jim for explaining and showing us [b:24q55war]The Right Way[/b:24q55war] to use this great software. I've never used the [b:24q55war]Re-author[/b:24q55war] button and thus some of my shrinks were less than 100%, but the quality was good enough (guess a much larger screen would show the defects). Now, I should be able to get much closer to the target.

Excellent article Jim.

Go and have a brew on my tab, Mindblower!

Cheers MB.

It is not actually necessary to use the Re-author button in all cases. Most shorter movies (those under 2 hours duration) will generally still play back OK.

I use it all the time, mainly to get rid of the annoying trailers, ads, etc. Plus, of course, to help ensure quality of play back for any longer movies.

Also, achieving the magic 100% compression will shorten the backup process considerably. The extra features of 'Deep Analysis' and 'Quality Enhancement' only kick in if compression is less then 100% and those enhancements cause the back up process to take a lot longer.

Thanks for your comments mate,
Jim

It was a great article, Jim. A big pat on the back, but we would expect nothing less from a DCT editor!

The correct file you need to d/l is dvdshrink32setup and is a zip file. Strongly believe all others are fakes, and much worse, some contain hidden bad stuff. Before going any further, suggest you do a full offline scan of your computer. This really depends on what protective software you are using, but now you can go and d/l the proper file.

DON'T be fooled by a newer version, as this product was abounded several years ago (and it still works).

PS Give revisited the article and as an after though, it might be a good idea to include a link to the site that contains the software, Mindblower!

Danka - There's no such thing as DVD Shrink 2010. The proper DVD Shrink software has not been under development for around 7 years now. The last version released was v3.2.0.15 in the year 2003.

OK, I just Googled "DVD Shrink 2010" and got several hits. All links lead to sites that are rated RED (very unsafe) by leading site advisories. According to one forum, what you have downloaded is a scam. I strongly suggest you get rid of it as soon as possible and use reputable scanner/remover software to search for any malware.....SUPERAntiSpyware (free) or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free) are two of the best. Then download the original (and one and only) DVD Shrink v3.2.

Cheers....Jim

Ooops...sorry MB. We must have been compiling a response at the exact same time.
