Hey guys, I was just wondering since I see that Zemana Antilogger is now offering a free version, if antilogger programs really work and should they be included in our every day security arsenal ?

Hey Claw - I am far from expert in this area but I can make several educated assumptions.

I can't see that dedicated antilogger software is really necessary for most users. The way I see it; almost all keyloggers and similar are delivered via malware/spyware and most modern anti-virus programs should identify them for what they are and prevent infection.

I've been mucking about with computers for a very long time now and in all that time I've never personally encountered any form of keylogging malware. In the early days, before my computer savvy was fully developed, I was hit by viruses and other forms of malware but never a keylogger.

In the end I guess it comes down to each individual's level of exposure. If someone is going to constantly put themselves at risk by ignoring common security advice and not surfing safely, then they need all the help they can get, including antikeylogger help. For the vast majority though, those who don't tend to visit sites renowned for hosting malware, and who generally follow common security protocols, something like Zemana would (IMO) be superfluous.

Cheers mate... Jim

This topic sounded interesting, so I d/l and installed the program from the authors site, which still comes as a 15 day trial (but fully functional). Then I tried to d/l the same program from Download366 and my Kaspersky Internet Security did it's job (see below). So does anyone have any thoughts on what's happening here, Mindblower!

Hello Claw. Where did your hear about this FREE version of
Zemana Antilogger ? I contacted the author and received this as a reply. (link in question is from Download366)

The file which is downloaded from the link you have sent, is neither the AntiLogger exe file nor the AntiLogger setup file. It is also malware. We advise you to check if the file has Zemana Ltd digital signature before running it.

This might explain why I was unable to d/l said file, and thanks to KIS for keeping me safe, Mindblower!

Hey MB - The fact that you had no trouble with Kasperksy blocking the Zemana AntiLogger download direct from the developer's site, only when trying to download from the third party source, suggests that the problem lies with the Download366 site rather than with the software.

I haven't checked out Download366 previously but I did just now and the site is rated RED, as in high risk, by WOT. It sounds to me like Download366 might not have provided you with the genuine Zemana Anti-Logger software.

Zemana AntiLogger free is available direct from the developers here: http://www.zemana.com/product/antilogger-free/overview/

Cheers... Jim

Thanks for the quick feedback. After reading the initial post, I became interested, and did a simple online search. That's what led me to Download366. Guess I should of done some more checking, Mindblower!

Thanks Jim for providing the information, I've been on the busy side and couldn't get back in time to answer questions directed to me. Thanks again.

After finding out how I made the mistake (Download366 link is an Ad), I went directly to the Zemana site. Read every bit of information, followed every link, and became very impressed with the software. Tried out the Free (15 day) software, and decided to purchase the software.

Fortunately, Zemana AntiLogger's unique proactive protection prevents your personal information from being stolen while you are conducting online banking transactions or e-commerce using an encrypted 128-bit SSL:
Proactively looks for suspicious activity.
No need to know or detect the malware's signature.
No need to wait for updates from a virus lab.
Catches not just the usual suspects, but also sophisticated "zero day" malware.
Future-proof.

The above extract is what sold me on the software, Mindblower!
