What can I do when a download is identified by AVG as a threat? Tried to download Word web dictionary from 2 different sites and was notified it contained adware.

Hi Cheladamama (we're going to have to shorten that handle) and welcome to the Forum.

What two sites did you try to download WordWeb from? There is absolutely no spyware/malware associated with the WordWeb software, it's 100% safe. I can only surmise that the two sites you tried to download from are using an adware wrapper to deliver their downloads and that is what is being flagged by AVG. Either that, or it is a false positive.

Try downloading direct from the developer here: http://wordweb.info/free/

Cheers... Jim

I think you're right Jim, this sounds like a special equipped installer is being added to the download. I could check it out if I had the site names.
