Hey All - When it comes to peripheral devices I am a bit in the dark ages, wouldn't have a clue about iStuff, Blueberrys, etc. but I have just purchased a brilliant bit of gear....well, at least I think it is brilliant....y'all probably know about them already.
It's a USB video capture device which includes some great software from Arcsoft. The device is made by DLeadtek and is called WinFast VC100 U Video Editor...the blurb on the box says, "Turn your PC into a DVR capable of home video editing." It's roughly 3" long x 1" wide x 3/4" deep and has a standard USB connection at one end and connection for S-Video-in at the other. Comes with extra 4-in-1 cable (S-Video to RCA, left/right audio) and the terrific Arcsoft software. I've known about capture cards, of course, but this is the first time I had ever come across a USB device for the job.
It will capture video (with audio of course) from any external source including VCR. I've always liked Arcsoft's products and their included software, with a typically intuitive interface, is very easy to understand and use.....among the features is the ability to record from VCR tapes [i:31i9hr3r]directly[/i:31i9hr3r] to DVD, as well as terrific editing options. Haven't had time yet to fully explore all the claims but so far...all good!!

cheers...JIM (luv them gadgets but don't understand 'em all) Hillier.

Oh, in case you were wondering it cost $60.00au which currently equates to around $41.00us.

LOL....Yeah, well I would if I had someone to talk to!!!!

Anyway, who'd wanna see my dilapidated old visage...even me Mum reckons I've got a good head for radio!!

Yep....super cool. Every time I venture into town I go to the computer shop, have a look around for any new little gadgets. A very astute and nice man once said to me, "If it plugs in to a power socket or takes batteries, I want one!"......that's me!!!!
