This really a network problem, but don't see a forum for that. I have an ASUS RT-AC66U router. my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15-5578 with AC card. My provider is Shaw.ca with a 300 Mb/s modem. On my PC hardwired I get 330 Mb/s. On my laptop I get 107Mb/s next to the router and 101Mb/s 60 ft away. That's quite a drop from the 300 coming though the cable. My OS is Linux Mint. Any opinions? Is this a normal speed loss on wifi?
AllanP. No expert here, but to my understanding, cable or a wire connection is always going to be faster. How much, now there's the question. Are you running any other wireless signals in the house, since this can effect your speed as well, Mindblower!

Have you ran the ( iwconfig ) command to check your wifi network? You might even try the Driver Manager and see if it will pick up another wifi driver. You can also probably still run the ( ifconfig ) network command, also ( netstat -r ) can be useful.
If you can and if your laptop has the connection you might try running a ethernet cable and see if this helps. I use a wired connection whenever I have to work on a laptop, wifi is just to slow.
