Repair of Toshiba laptop

Hi all:

I read Dave's article in the September 15th newsletter about repairing a broken power jack. Are there any special "do's or don't's" to get into a Toshiba?? I have worked on other laptops (Dell, Gateway, and HP), but not a Toshiba. I think I can find the power jack at Toshiba's website (at this point I don't have the laptop in my possession so I don't know the exact model).

Thanks

Hi Nightowl, Glad to see you here!

I've only had to take one Toshiba apart and that was 5 or 6 years ago. There shouldn't be anything special. They all come apart in a fairly similar way. Just don't force it!

If you know the model # you can usually search around and find a service manual, especially if it's an older model.

Hi Dave:

Thanks for the reply. I won't get it until Monday, so then I will be able to determine the model, etc. I'll see if I can get a manual from Toshiba, if not I'll try something else.

I just wasn't sure if there was any thing unusual about Toshiba.
