DCT: Move to a Blog or continue with Newsletter?

We've been internally discussing the possibility of moving DCT to a blog format. This would allow us more freedom in posting current content and more frequent content, which is a benefit to you, the reader.

The benefit to us would be an easier to maintain site and streamlining the entire publishing process. The authors can post their own content, removing a current drawback where all submissions must be delivered to myself and then be aggregated into a single newsletter, which takes a huge amount of time.

Emails will still be delivered with snippets of the recent content, but up to date RSS feeds would also be available to those that choose to use them.

All-in-all it won't be a big change from a reader standpoint and it will have added benefits for everyone on both sides of the coin (us, the authors, and you, the readers).

Please, let me know your thoughts and feelings about the move!

[size=130:2kuwl8bi]UPDATE:

Due to the large percentage of members who have relayed their fears about the blog's possible involvement with Facebook, Twitter, etc. PLEASE NOTE:

DCT will definitely NOT become a social site, not even remotely similar to Facebook, Twitter and co. The site and all its features will remain free and readily accessible to everyone; you will not need any accounts with any of the social sites. The content and characteristics of the site shall remain true to Daves Computer Tips objectives and pretty much identical to what they are now.[/size:2kuwl8bi]

Not exactly sure how it will affect what I see, but if it will help on your end then I say "Go for it."

Thanks,
Harold

As long it's not a Twit or Face account, whatever you guys and gals decide is fine with me, Mindblower!

What ever works as long as it is a website and not Facebook or similar. Look forward to it when it is done.

You should move to the blog format. I know from personal experience how difficult putting together a newsletter is.
Wordpress takes away most of your worries, and lets you simply write.

If you still want to publish a newsletter email (text), just send it once a week as a notification with a list of articles they'll find when they arrive.

It's fine with me. you do make it almost impossible to tell where to type our feedback on the subject.

I have the utmost faith in DCT to do what is best not only for the website but the blossoming DCT community as well. Cheap, cop-out answer I admit, but it doesn't mean it isn't true and heartfelt.

I sure enjoy the newsletter; However, if it turns into a blog and I can still get the newsletter that would be GREAT!

As a long time free reader of your newsletter and having seen the number of changes you have made over the years, please keep creating this information in any manner that is easiest for you.

I think the blog idea is a good one because it'll make you life easier and I think make it faster and easier for your subscribers to get the info they need when they need it.
