Hi BJ - I seriously doubt this chore could be handled by Irfanview's basic editor. You would need an image editor capable of working with layers. I believe Photoshop would do this for you, and perhaps the free Gimp, although I wouldn't have a clue how. Basically, you'd need to break the gif down into its layers and change the background in each layer.

Here is a site that boasts 13,000 of them: http://www.gifs.net/gif/
If you want animations in your email then have a look at Incredimail: http://www.incredimail.com
They used to have a free version, not sure if they have it anymore.
Incredimail? No way!! Incredimail is one of the most insidious programs in existence, it hooks deep into the system and is a right pain in the you know what to get rid of. I suggest you steer well clear of Incredimail...

Never had a problem with it Jim. When I uninstalled it I used, as I always do, 'Your Uninstaller' which in my opinion is a major step up from Revo. That seemed to get rid of it.
I copied a number of gifs from the Animation Factory

but unless you are a member ($59.95) you get a watermark in the background. Great gifs, though.
I'll visit the sites you listed. Thanks.
